Current Favorites

Hey a new post! My first of the year.

I haven't really had the time to update much. My desktop computer is kaput and the laptop I'm using is old so I haven't felt motivated to update until now. Hopefully I can fix my desktop computer soon.

Thought I'd update with some of my current favorite products. :D Welcome back!

First is the Garnier hair products. I absolutely love this product line. Its affordable and has been good to my hair. My favorite is the Fall Fight shampoo and conditioner. Leaves my hair soft and shiney. I also love the Leave In conditioner spray and Triple Nutrition spray.

Next is Loreal True Match powder. I've always had trouble finding a powder makeup because of my sensitive skin. Powder usually makes me breakout, but I've been using this one for about a month and haven't had any problems. I love the feel of it as well. It's light and soft to the touch. A plus!

Last is my new favorite skin care product. I was hesitant to use it at first but have heard nothing but good things about it. I'm glad I took a chance because this stuff is amazing. Emu oil. Yes. EMU oil. This stuff is gold for the skin. It helps with acne and dry skin. I have breakouts because of my sensitive skin, but this stuff helps clear it up pretty quickly. And its great for tired and aging skin. There are different brands and usages. You have to pay attention to what you buy. Prices vary, but you can probably find a good one for about $20. Make sure you find a good seller. I usually buy mine off Amazon. Highly recommend.

That's it for now. Happy New Year. Welcome back! :D

And. . . I'm back! With stuff!

Oh my goodness, where did I go???

Oh yes. . . . life. I sort of have a life. Just a teeny little bit of one.

So after many months, I've decided to start up my small blog again, because I actually have been doing things in this hot State I live in.

First off, I've been continuing my love affair with makeup, and I've found a few products that I absolutely adore! Highly recommend them.

1.  Urban Decay 'all nighter' setting spray. This products works wonderfully as a makeup setter. I use it every day and I have not had a break out, even with my sensitive skin. It's wonderful.

2. Tarte 'smooth operator' mineral clay finishing powder. I love love LOVE this product. It's a great makeup setter, eats up excess oil, and gives a nice finish to my skin.

3. Nars cream blush in 'Lokoum'. This color is so nice and perfect for summer. A little dab on the cheeks is all you need. It fits nicely with my caramel skin tone.

4. Mac lipstick in 'Frost'. This is a nice shade for summer. A quick coat is all you need for a nice light look.

5. Loreal Infallible lipstick in 'Enduring Berry'. I like to mix this shade with Mac's 'Frost' for a nice daytime look. You can use a double coat for an evening look.

6. Tarte Vitamin Core lipstick in 'Sweet Dreams'. I bought this product from the Tarte site on sale. I'm not sure if its discontinued, but I was lucky to buy it when I did. It's wonderul! It goes on more like a lip balm. It moisturizes and gives enough color to the lips to make them look classy and plump. I love it.

If you tried any of these products, let me know what you think. And if anyone recommends anything.

Hope you enjoy!

I will be back with additional blogs soon! Including a review of downtown Phoenix Cityscape!

Peace.

February beauty

Phew! Finally an update.

Sorry I've been incognito, but life gets in the way. However, that has not stopped me from adding to my collection of beauty. :D

I finally decided to join Birchbox. After putting it off, I thought - what the hey! I wanted to see what this was all about. I must say my first box is a bit disappointing. I watch tutorials on the british version of Birchbox, Glossybox, and I was expecting something along the lines of those products. The british version tends to carry more stuff in bigger sizes. My first Birchbox only contained a few small samples, definitely not worth the $10 a month they charge. I'll stick it out for a while, but if it doesn't get better I will cancel my subscription.

Aside from my Birchbox, I also purchased the new Naked 2 pallette. :D I absolutely LOVE this pallette. It is much better than the first. I wear it everyday. :D

I also found a bronzer that I adore. It's called "Hotel Heiress" by Tarte. It's a beautiful peachy bronze color, perfect for my darker tan skin, and its catered to sensitive skin, which I have. According to the Tarte product line, it contains Amazonian clay, whatever that means, and is a mineral based powder, fragrance and talc free; perfect. I believe Tarte products are much like Urban Decay in that it tries to be as harmless to skin as possible, but I have to do more research on the line.

I hope everyone had a beautiful Valentines Day. It was my mother's birthday and I surprised her with a cake and flowers. :D

Happy February and enjoy the weeks to come! :D

to health . . .

With a high stress job and fast past life, its very easy to forget about taking care of your body. So lately I have been trying to better my diet. Daily fast food and stress can lead to some pretty bad moments - like waking up late and constantly being late to work. :| Guilty.

A few months back I stumbled across this youtube channel and its become one of my favorites. I actually took some of her examples to heart - my manuka honey and tea recipe stemmed from one of her videos. Her name is Natasha St. Michael, and she is a raw food and health advocate. I really admire her will and excellent instruction.

I'm hoping that following some of her examples I can better my health, especially living in Arizona, with its heat, dust and pollution. I suffer from horrid allergies and asthma.

Currently I'm trying to cut back on sugar, slowly weening myself off. I'm also trying to do the same with processed foods and soda.

Take a look for yourself. You might find something that will help.

open after dark . . .

I'm back! With a makeup blog. :D

I finally got myself over to Ulta and purchased the new Tarte for True Blood makeup kit.

As a True Blood fan, I was so happy to hear this was coming out. About time.

Let me just say, as a makeup lover, and a True Blood lover, I was almost overloaded with girlish joy! HA!

Anyways, I bought the eyeshadow palette kit and the lipstick. They also have a cheek stain, but I passed on that.

As far as shadows go, this is the first time I have ever purchased anything from Tarte. I was more than pleased to know their products are cruelty free and include that special clay which is suppose to be good for you. The shades included are True Blood inspired, such as "V" which is a deep magenta color, and also "Fairy" a glittered pink color. Very smart. :D

I am pretty hard to satisfy when it comes to makeup. My favorite makeup brands are Revlon and Urban Decay. That being said, the eyeshadow in this special Tarte kit is a bit disappointing. It's not as highly pigmented as I would have hoped. Not like Urbay Decay, but its still good. My skin color is dark, so I am always looking for a high pigment shadow. I suppose if you are a True Blood fan it wouldn't matter. It's 99 percent of why I bought these items. The eyeshadow kit comes in this cute little packaging, as you can see above. It features a box for the makeup with imitation leather that looks like a corset, with a little pull out drawer underneath that has an eyeliner, mascara, and primer. I haven't tried any of those yet, but they seem excellent.

The lipstick on the other hand, is brilliant! I love it. It's a lip pencil and goes on smoothly and lasts a good time. Great red color.

As a makeup connoisseur, I would definitely recommend. If you are a collector of these type of items, its a must have.

Now, the only major downfall to this is the cost, its pretty pricey, but considering the brand and product, it might be worth it, depending on your pocketbooks. :D

Enjoy!

Very nice color.

pixie!

The pixie cut looks like its making a comeback. Or maybe it always remained? Or perhaps its merely ladies riding the tide of the summer wave. Whatever the case - I LOVE IT! :D Pixie cuts are cute, and so easy to manage! I know, I use to have one (see ME above). :D I've had waist length hair, shoulder length, bobs, but I have to say, my favorite was the pixie cut. I felt comfortable and free. The only bad thing that happened one time was some older lady thought I was a guy - but I laughed it off. ;p I was a cute guy! haha. I don't know if I'll ever cut my hair that short again, but I love thinking about it, and enjoying looking at other people pull off the cut, which is not an easy thing to do for gals.

GIRL POWER!

nail color

I love being girly, and one thing that keeps me feeling girly in spite of the grit I can get myself into, is having my nails painted a pretty color. :D

I usually give my own self pedicure's and manicure's because I think its ridiculous paying so much for one every week.

I paint my nails a different color every two weeks and try to keep it classy, and I love the bright colors for summer.

This week I decided to go with the color "Soul Mate" by Sinful Colors. It's a coral pink/peachy color, and its lovely.

Nightime cleanser

I am a late night owl, and can sometimes suffer from mild insomnia in that I usually have too much to do before bedtime. I work later hours as well.

A life on the go means lots of stress on the body, both inside and out.

I tend to suffer from acid reflux because of the copious amounts of caffeine I consume, and I have trouble sleeping at night if I don't take some form of medication, which I loathe. I also suffer from adult acne, which is a pain in the arse.

Recently I decided to try an organic approach to my problems, and I must say, I'm enjoying it!

I've heard some trials about Manuka honey and the natural benefits that come with it. It's said to be great for the skin and digestive system with its antibacterial properties. I also know of the effects of peppermint tea on the digestive system. So, I decided to concoct a little remedy of my own.

This recipe has helped me sleep at night and has, thus far, kept my skin breakouts to a minimum. I've only just started drinking it, so the jury is still out, but thus far, I'm enjoying it.

Nightime Cleansing tea

A cup of steaming water and a packet of Traditional Medicinals Organic Peppermint Tea

A teaspoon of Manuka honey (make sure its the real deal, pure raw, organic Manuka honey)

A squirt of lemon juice

Drink and enjoy! :D

Makeup . . . HO!

I am a self described makeup JUNKIE. This probably stems from my minor cases of A.D.D., and fascination with shiny, pretty, colorful things. :D Or maybe just female hormones.

Whatever.

So I am a TOTAL makeup HO. I love collecting and buying as much as a I can.

I thought I'd list some of my current favorites in this post. Just a small current favorites tho, but I will go into detail of which makeup brands and products I love.

So. . .here goes

1. Philosophy "Kiss Me Tonight" lip therapy balm.

I love, LOVE this product. My cousin gave this to me from her personal collection. And I fell in love. It helps my dry lips, and doesn't feel at all icky or sticky.

2. Philosophy lip balms

I love all Philosophy lip balms, mostly because this brand is so fun to look at and play with. With fun shades such as "Kiss Me" and "Cinnamon Buns" how can you NOT like it? :D

In general, I just LOVE the Philosophy line of products. Their entire range is AMAZING. Check out their site. PHILOSOPHY

Granted, it is a little pricey, but if you can find deals on ebay, GO FOR IT. I highly recommend the lip balms since they are not as pricey as the other products.

Enjoy!
