Current Favorites

Hey a new post! My first of the year.

I haven't really had the time to update much. My desktop computer is kaput and the laptop I'm using is old so I haven't felt motivated to update until now. Hopefully I can fix my desktop computer soon.

Thought I'd update with some of my current favorite products. :D Welcome back!

First is the Garnier hair products. I absolutely love this product line. Its affordable and has been good to my hair. My favorite is the Fall Fight shampoo and conditioner. Leaves my hair soft and shiney. I also love the Leave In conditioner spray and Triple Nutrition spray.

Next is Loreal True Match powder. I've always had trouble finding a powder makeup because of my sensitive skin. Powder usually makes me breakout, but I've been using this one for about a month and haven't had any problems. I love the feel of it as well. It's light and soft to the touch. A plus!

Last is my new favorite skin care product. I was hesitant to use it at first but have heard nothing but good things about it. I'm glad I took a chance because this stuff is amazing. Emu oil. Yes. EMU oil. This stuff is gold for the skin. It helps with acne and dry skin. I have breakouts because of my sensitive skin, but this stuff helps clear it up pretty quickly. And its great for tired and aging skin. There are different brands and usages. You have to pay attention to what you buy. Prices vary, but you can probably find a good one for about $20. Make sure you find a good seller. I usually buy mine off Amazon. Highly recommend.

That's it for now. Happy New Year. Welcome back! :D

Allergies

I've suffered from allergies pretty much my whole life, but its progressed with each year. I'm not sure what factors are completely involved in it but I believe it's the ever changing weather and the population boost in Phoenix. I've heard from several people who have moved here that they are now suffering from allergies whereas they never suffered from them before. I would like to better understand this phenomena, but I think its pretty simple: Weather and pollution. I have seen a doctor for my allergies and have been prescribed a few things, and the medications that works best for me are Prednisone and SingularWhile these medications work, they do have potential side effects. I sometimes get headaches and nauseousness with the Singular. I haven't experienced anything outstanding with the Prednisone but I don't take it as much as the Singular and I also tend to take both medications at night before bed. Never at the same time though. I was also prescribed a nasal spray that I use for days when its not so tough, but I could use a little help. I've also been told by a nurse that the over the counter medication, Zyrtec, works well. I have yet to try it but I probably will someday considering the price of some medication. I also find that having an air purifier running in the room, especially at night, helps with allergies. It cleanses the air of any nasty pollution. This also helps for asthma, which I also suffer from.

Suffering from allergies is a big bummer as it tends to be year round. If anyone knows of any good allergy medications, please let me know, or share your diagnosis.

February beauty

Phew! Finally an update.

Sorry I've been incognito, but life gets in the way. However, that has not stopped me from adding to my collection of beauty. :D

I finally decided to join Birchbox. After putting it off, I thought - what the hey! I wanted to see what this was all about. I must say my first box is a bit disappointing. I watch tutorials on the british version of Birchbox, Glossybox, and I was expecting something along the lines of those products. The british version tends to carry more stuff in bigger sizes. My first Birchbox only contained a few small samples, definitely not worth the $10 a month they charge. I'll stick it out for a while, but if it doesn't get better I will cancel my subscription.

Aside from my Birchbox, I also purchased the new Naked 2 pallette. :D I absolutely LOVE this pallette. It is much better than the first. I wear it everyday. :D

I also found a bronzer that I adore. It's called "Hotel Heiress" by Tarte. It's a beautiful peachy bronze color, perfect for my darker tan skin, and its catered to sensitive skin, which I have. According to the Tarte product line, it contains Amazonian clay, whatever that means, and is a mineral based powder, fragrance and talc free; perfect. I believe Tarte products are much like Urban Decay in that it tries to be as harmless to skin as possible, but I have to do more research on the line.

I hope everyone had a beautiful Valentines Day. It was my mother's birthday and I surprised her with a cake and flowers. :D

Happy February and enjoy the weeks to come! :D

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy new year to everyone!

I'm so excited for this new year. Start fresh.

This past year was absolutely bonkers. Transitiong from one company to another was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. When your company that you have worked for, for over 10 years, gets sold, it is a shock! Systems are different, but luckily people are the same. We are still in transition, but all my fingers and toes are crossed that this year will be so very good to us.

I haven't made any resolutions, but I have promised myself to have a positive outlook on things, more or less. Laugh and smile more. Don't sweat the small stuff, as they say.

Here's praying and hoping that the new year has many blessings for all!

:D

Take care.

to health . . .

With a high stress job and fast past life, its very easy to forget about taking care of your body. So lately I have been trying to better my diet. Daily fast food and stress can lead to some pretty bad moments - like waking up late and constantly being late to work. :| Guilty.

A few months back I stumbled across this youtube channel and its become one of my favorites. I actually took some of her examples to heart - my manuka honey and tea recipe stemmed from one of her videos. Her name is Natasha St. Michael, and she is a raw food and health advocate. I really admire her will and excellent instruction.

I'm hoping that following some of her examples I can better my health, especially living in Arizona, with its heat, dust and pollution. I suffer from horrid allergies and asthma.

Currently I'm trying to cut back on sugar, slowly weening myself off. I'm also trying to do the same with processed foods and soda.

Take a look for yourself. You might find something that will help.

snack time!

HUMMUS!

My adorable cute, oh so poetic friend introducted me to this. I have only her to blame for my addiction.

My favorite brand of Hummus is from Sprouts Farmers Market. But I haven't met a hummus I didn't like yet. :D

Toast and hummus, crackers, vegetables . . pretty much anything and hummus is a delicious snack, and its healthy too!

Nightime cleanser

I am a late night owl, and can sometimes suffer from mild insomnia in that I usually have too much to do before bedtime. I work later hours as well.

A life on the go means lots of stress on the body, both inside and out.

I tend to suffer from acid reflux because of the copious amounts of caffeine I consume, and I have trouble sleeping at night if I don't take some form of medication, which I loathe. I also suffer from adult acne, which is a pain in the arse.

Recently I decided to try an organic approach to my problems, and I must say, I'm enjoying it!

I've heard some trials about Manuka honey and the natural benefits that come with it. It's said to be great for the skin and digestive system with its antibacterial properties. I also know of the effects of peppermint tea on the digestive system. So, I decided to concoct a little remedy of my own.

This recipe has helped me sleep at night and has, thus far, kept my skin breakouts to a minimum. I've only just started drinking it, so the jury is still out, but thus far, I'm enjoying it.

Nightime Cleansing tea

A cup of steaming water and a packet of Traditional Medicinals Organic Peppermint Tea

A teaspoon of Manuka honey (make sure its the real deal, pure raw, organic Manuka honey)

A squirt of lemon juice

Drink and enjoy! :D
