snack time!

HUMMUS!

My adorable cute, oh so poetic friend introducted me to this. I have only her to blame for my addiction.

My favorite brand of Hummus is from Sprouts Farmers Market. But I haven't met a hummus I didn't like yet. :D

Toast and hummus, crackers, vegetables . . pretty much anything and hummus is a delicious snack, and its healthy too!

I have decided on another bright color. :D It's "Blue Me Away" by Sally Hansen, Xtreme Wear. :D

Very nice color.

True Blood season 4 premiere - a brief review (spoilers!)

WARNING!! DO NOT READ AHEAD IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!

This season started off with a much slower pace than last year. The oh-so-nice fairies that Sookie was whisked away by turned out to be not so nice, and not so attractive either. This scene was the most out of place in the whole episode, possibly the whole series. It was odd, and that’s saying a lot considering this is TRUE BLOOD!  I could care less about the fairy story line.
Lots of things have changed, because while Sookie was only gone for a matter of minutes in fairy world, it ended up to be an entire YEAR in the real world. Turns out lots of things have changed since her absence, the biggest surprise of all with Bill, being KING of Louisiana now. I already watched episode 2 online, and how that came to be is explained in that episode.  I must say, all of the twists with Bill are a real surprise to me, I don’t know if he’s bad or good now. I don’t read the books, so it’s a thrill to watch. Eric is Eric, and continues to be Eric up until the end of episode 2. Anyone who reads the books knows about Eric’s amnesia, and it looks like it is happening. I don’t read the books; I only read the synopsis of them.
Jessica continues to struggle with her vampirism. I think she was kidding herself trying to play house with Hoyt. She’s starting to show her true vampire side.
Lafayette has joined his boyfriend’s coven, though hesitantly.
Tara is a lesbian now.  Yup.
Arlene hates her baby because she thinks he’s evil, and he certainly seems he might be. (It’s a boy!)
Jason continues to play deputy to Andy’s sheriff. Andy is hooked on V and Jason is entrapped by his ex love, Crystal.
Pam is Pam, and I love her.
Sam hangs out with other shape-shifters in group therapy.
New regulars this year are Nan Flannigan, played by the awesome Jessica Tuck.  Alicide Herveaux, played by the yummylicious Joe Manganiello (but doesn’t show up til episode 3! The nerve!) Luna, played by some actress I forgot her name, and Marnie, the leader of Lafayette’s coven played by Fiona Shaw, Petunia of the Harry Potter franchise.  She’s awesome.
The saga continues. . .
I have to admit, after the season 3 finale, I was starting to lose faith in the series, but I’m re-energized. We’ll see how it keeps my attention this year.
I have no patience.

downtown grubbing

I'm not much of an eat out person . . . oh who am I kidding? HA! I eat out enough that I can officially list my top 3 takeout places in my neck of the woods.

Phoenix is my home, and my place of work, so I am so thrilled that I found a few places that satisfy my picky tastebuds.

Chico's Mexican Grill - Mexican food, eat in and takeout. Cheap drinks and yummy dishes. My absolute favorite is the Achiote Chicken Salad. They aren't stingy on the portions either. :D

Blue Fin Teriyaki - This Japanese restaurant serves the BEST takeout chicken teriyaki bowl. The chicken is grilled and tastes OH SO YUMMY! The rice bowls are my favorite, and I LOVE the Mochi they have for desert. :D The service is always pleasant as well. Nice owners and staff.

Siu Wok - This chinese takeout restaurant is small and so off the wall you would miss it if you blinked, but it's extremely popular with call in and takeout orders. It serves the best combo dishes for a great price. I love the Teriyaki Chicken combo and lunch specials. YUM!

I'll definitely be blogging about more places I love to visit in Phoenix.

Enjoy!

pixie!

The pixie cut looks like its making a comeback. Or maybe it always remained? Or perhaps its merely ladies riding the tide of the summer wave. Whatever the case - I LOVE IT! :D Pixie cuts are cute, and so easy to manage! I know, I use to have one (see ME above). :D I've had waist length hair, shoulder length, bobs, but I have to say, my favorite was the pixie cut. I felt comfortable and free. The only bad thing that happened one time was some older lady thought I was a guy - but I laughed it off. ;p I was a cute guy! haha. I don't know if I'll ever cut my hair that short again, but I love thinking about it, and enjoying looking at other people pull off the cut, which is not an easy thing to do for gals.

GIRL POWER!

gifted flashback

So I bought this for my mother a few months back. It's the Fujifilm Instanx Mini Camera.

She's used it a total of ONE time. :(

She wanted the old school Polarioid instant camera, but they don't make them anymore. Very sad. They were the best.

Some things should always remain, like vinyl, and platform shoes.

The camera itself is cute. The pictures are half the size of the old polaroid. It's a novelty item mostly, not for serious use.

But it's still cute. :D

nail color

I love being girly, and one thing that keeps me feeling girly in spite of the grit I can get myself into, is having my nails painted a pretty color. :D

I usually give my own self pedicure's and manicure's because I think its ridiculous paying so much for one every week.

I paint my nails a different color every two weeks and try to keep it classy, and I love the bright colors for summer.

This week I decided to go with the color "Soul Mate" by Sinful Colors. It's a coral pink/peachy color, and its lovely.

Sweet Treat

Even though I've spent too much money on dental work, I can't help but indulge in my sweet treats, though not as much as I used to.

My favorite treat of late has been Kosher lollipops that I purchase at Walgreens drugstore. My mother got me started after she started asking me to buy them for her.

The Cotton Candy flavor is my absolute favorite. :D

Yum!

Nightime cleanser

I am a late night owl, and can sometimes suffer from mild insomnia in that I usually have too much to do before bedtime. I work later hours as well.

A life on the go means lots of stress on the body, both inside and out.

I tend to suffer from acid reflux because of the copious amounts of caffeine I consume, and I have trouble sleeping at night if I don't take some form of medication, which I loathe. I also suffer from adult acne, which is a pain in the arse.

Recently I decided to try an organic approach to my problems, and I must say, I'm enjoying it!

I've heard some trials about Manuka honey and the natural benefits that come with it. It's said to be great for the skin and digestive system with its antibacterial properties. I also know of the effects of peppermint tea on the digestive system. So, I decided to concoct a little remedy of my own.

This recipe has helped me sleep at night and has, thus far, kept my skin breakouts to a minimum. I've only just started drinking it, so the jury is still out, but thus far, I'm enjoying it.

Nightime Cleansing tea

A cup of steaming water and a packet of Traditional Medicinals Organic Peppermint Tea

A teaspoon of Manuka honey (make sure its the real deal, pure raw, organic Manuka honey)

A squirt of lemon juice

Drink and enjoy! :D

new Harry Potter trailer!

Yes, I am a Harry Potter fan. But more of the movies, not the books so much.

And this looks completely AWESOME.

Can't wait!

Nerd Post!

Just a brief NERD post! :D

OMG! Doctor Who!

It sucks that the U.S. is a full week behind the U.K. because of the last holiday, but that's why I LOVE youtube. :D

OMG! And Amy and Rory. And RIVER SONG!

So I, along with thousands of others, already figured out the "spoiler", but it was still a great reveal altogether.

Love the bowtie. Always.

End this brief nerd post.
